The main goal behind our blog has always been to provide an outlet for the dope artists from Phoenix and surrounding areas that we love. That's why we are so proud to finally present the Dopest Rappers in the area that you should be following. Phoenix Bangerz and Jiggy Hiphop have connected to put together a list of 50 rappers who match talent, creativity and drive.
While this list is the best snapshot of Phoenix hip hop to date, it’s not the end-all-be-all and we definitely recognize we could have missed some artists. If we missed anyone let us know in comment section below!
This list is not in any particular order.
Born in the Virgin Islands and raised in Brooklyn, Reck Yosiah has since found a home in Arizona and has made a name for himself thanks to the smooth R&B/rap fusion sound he has cultivated. Equipped with impressive vocals, a strong presence on the mic, and excellent songwriting ability, Yosiah has all the makings to be one of Arizona’s premier hip hop artists.
Jalopy Bungus
Named a TOP 10 ARTIST TO WATCH IN 2018 by the Phoenix New Times, Jalopy Bungus has already garnered some attention as one of the city’s brightest upcoming hip hop artists, and for good reason. His skill as an MC is undeniable and his lyricism matches his ability behind the mic, creating a formidable combination that results in full bodied, deliberate music that is hard not to come back to.
Developing a following isn’t an easy task but Toure Masters knows what it takes. Performing at various venues across Arizona and getting his music on local radio stations have helped Masters become a known figure on the scene. Masters’ versatility as an artist have also helped him, and listeners can expect to find a wide variety of sounds from the Phoenix MC, ranging from upbeat bangers to personal, introspective tracks.
Every once in a while an artist will start rapping and it will be immediately clear that they have a near otherworldly talent. RoQY TyRaiD is one of those artists and he’s gotten a blessing from the legendary DJ Green Lantern, proving that his skill can take him big places. His style behind the mic is most apparent on Tikka Masala, where his words resemble a butcher, slicing through the melodic, perfectly crafted production like a knife through a chunk of fresh meat.
If Hip-Hop is dead, RoQy TyRaiD could be its graceful resurrector. His latest mixtape, “OUTBREAK” (Hosted by DJ Green Lantern), is a thirty-minute exercise of pure lyricism; beaming RoQy as a fearsome, acrobatic emcee. No matter if the beat is dark trap or cataclysmic boom-bap, the Phoenix madman will ruthlessly torment the microphone; spitting apocalyptic verses without wasting a breath. For the purist, RoQy TyRaiD is an underground savior. A beacon of light the current culture desperately requires.
Having a wide variety of styles is often a good thing and Jae Tilt is an artist who executes well on a diverse range of sounds. From laid back tracks such as No Setbacks and Outcome to more uptempo songs like Deep End and Black Man featuring Dizzy Wright, Tilt has shown an ability to make robust music and not pigeonhole his sound, a combination that is sure to bring him success.
Smooth, harmonic vocals and vibe worthy production are hallmarks of Truvonne’s style and she executes both with skill. The producer/singer has some of the most obvious talent of any artist in Arizona and she has the talent to be a well known name on the national stage in no time. Her catchy R&B sound is easy to get lost in and hard to stop listening to, a combination that is bound to take her big places.
Hard work often pays off and Delly Everyday has put in more work than just about anyone, dropping 365 songs in 2018. Living up to his moniker, his ability to drop a track every day of the year and have all of them be worth listening to is an extremely impressive feat and shows how hungry the Phoenix MC is.
Julius King
Some artists just have an ear for music, and Julius King is definitely one of those artists. Tracks such as Summ and L L L L L L show that he has a versatile vocal style and an ability to pick mood setting, high quality production, a strong combination that has helped set him apart from the crowd. With such clear skill, King is looking like he has an exciting future ahead of him.
Sincerely Collins
Every artist on this list has talent but Sincerely Collins may be one of the most skilled MCs in all of Arizona. From smooth, impressive flows to strong R&B vocals, Collins has a little something for everyone and he has proven he can put together cohesive, complete projects that have managed to set him above the crowd. With all this talent and a clear direction, Sincerely Collins could be a name that’s known around the country in due time.
Alphabyte
With so much of new music sounding similar, it’s always refreshing to hear someone come through with something a little bit different. Alphabyte’s most recent track, an appearance with AO as the group The Rule Of Two, shows that he has an ear for unique production and can take advantage of that with some solid wordplay.
